OSCILLATION OF HYDROLOGICAL PARAMETERS IN SHRIMP PONDS WITHIN MANGROVE-DOMINATED INDIAN SUNDARBANS

چکیده
The survival rate of Penaeus monodon was monitored for a decade (2010-2019) in two shrimp culture ponds at Chemaguri located Sagar Island the Indian Sundarbans delta complex. exhibited significant variations terms cultured species, which is attributed to nitrate, phosphate, and dissolved oxygen. root cause such difference related variation stocking density species (10 PL20/m2 pond 1 25 2) resulted generation nutrients (except silicate) alteration Dissolved Oxygen (DO). Optimization introduction biotreatment may restore ecologically balance situation sector Sundarban region.

Mangrove Methane Biogeochemistry in the Indian Sundarbans: A Proposed Budget
Biogeochemical cycling of CH4 was investigated at Lothian Island, one of the relatively pristine islands of Indian Sundarbans and its adjacent Saptamukhi estuary, during June 2010 to December 2012. Intertidal mangrove sediments were highly anoxic and rich in organic carbon. Mean rates of methanogenesis were 3,547 and 48.88μmol m−3 wet sediment d−1, for intertidal (up to 25 cm depth) and sub-tid...
متن کاملCO2 Efflux from Shrimp Ponds in Indonesia
The conversion of mangrove forest to aquaculture ponds has been increasing in recent decades. One of major concerns of this habitat loss is the release of stored 'blue' carbon from mangrove soils to the atmosphere. In this study, we assessed carbon dioxide (CO₂) efflux from soil in intensive shrimp ponds in Bali, Indonesia. We measured CO₂ efflux from the floors and walls of shrimp ponds. Rates...
متن کاملContribution of anammox bacteria to benthic nitrogen cycling in a mangrove forest and shrimp ponds, Haiphong, Vietnam.
Mangrove forests are common in subtropical regions, and have received considerable attention as vegetative buffers against anthropogenic N-loading. In this study, we investigated anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) as one of potentially important microbial N-removing pathways in mangrove and shrimp pond sediment in Haiphong, Vietnam. Measurements with (15)N-labeled compounds demonstrated the...
متن کاملAcoustic sensing in snapping shrimp dominated environments
Snapping shrimp dominate the high frequency soundscape in shallow warm waters. The noises produced by these small creatures are a result of the collapse of cavitation bubbles they produce. During the rapid collapse, the temperatures in the bubble can momentarily reach the surface temperature of the sun, and produce impulsive noise with source levels higher than 190 dB re 1 μPa @ 1m. With millio...
